NEW from TELEGARTNER

Coaxial Surge Suppressors

Due to the higher frequency ranges being allocated for WLANs and mobile communications systems, Telegartner has developed two new series of gas discharge tube type surge suppressors with N, SMA and R-SMA interlaces.

  • 2.5 GHz High Performance Surge Suppressors with Gas Discharge Tube.  These surge suppressors have been designed for use from dc to 2,5GHz, and with an IP 67 rating, they are suitable for outdoor applications. They are able to carry loads of up to 300 W and can handle impulse discharge currents of 40 kA (8/20 impulse). Various designs with dc spark-over voltages from 75 V to 1000 V are available.
  • 6 GHz Compact Surge Suppjessors with Gas Discharge Tube.  These surge suppressors, especially intended for WLAN applications, are suitable for applications from dc up to 6 GHz and can withstand impulse discharge currents of 10 kV maximum (8/20 impulse). At this time, designs featuring SMA and R-SMA are available.
  • Quarter-Wave Shorting Stub Protectors.   A wide variety of quarter-wave shorting stubs are still available. These protectors act as narrow bandpass filters with only a narrow bandwidth allowed to pass white other frequencies are shorted and discharged to ground. The design of this coaxial device involves a direct and solid short circuit between the center and outer conductor. A variety of stub designs are available in frequency ranges of 380 MHz through 2.5 Ghz. They can carry loads of up to 500 W and can handle impulse discharge currents of 100 x 100 KA.

Reverse-Polarity RF Coax Connectors for Wireless LAN's

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) are becoming increasingly popular as cost effective alternatives to UMTS systems or standard wired LANs. Connectors from the N, TNC and SMA series are typically used as the interfaces for connecting the various components (antennas, access points, etc.) to the WLAN. As a means of preventing incorrect or improper components from being connected to the WLAN, the use of reverse-polarity TNC and SMA connectors are becoming increasingly widespread in many WLAN applications.

The term “reverse-polarity connectors” is used to describe a standard sized cable plug that contains a female center contact instead of the standard male center contact. Conversely, the mating receptacle must also contain a nonstandard male center contact instead of a female center contact. Although these are non-standard connectors, they are frequently used as the interfaces on antennas, access points and WLAN circuit cards, making it necessary for the mating connectors to be compatible. Telegartner offers a broad range of reverse polarity TNC and SMA connectors for WLAN applications.

IP 67 Industrial Grade RJ45 Mounting Flanges

These new components expand the existing line of Telegartner's Industrial RJ45 Connection System. There are now two different RJ45 installation solutions available for modular jack inserts. Ethernet connections for Cat. 5e or Cat. 6 components can now be created under the harshest industrial conditions with protection in accordance with the IP 67 standard. The mounting flanges are designed to be easily installed to either the exterior wall of an industrial circuit cabinet or mounted directly to a wall within a building. The use of the associated mounting set allows for the simple, time saving installation of these mounting flanges. An operational connection is then established by snapping-in the appropriate RJ45 Cat. 5e or Cat. 6 modules.

The IP 67 Industrial Grade RJ45 Mounting Flanges feature:

  • Simple and time saving installaton
  • Captive cover for IP 67 that provides a secure seal when the connector is not plugged in
  • When the connector is plugged in, IP 67 protection is provided by the industrial RJ45 connector
  • Connection of commercially available RJ45 connectors is also possible (IP 20 protection)
  • Tool free mounting of the RJ45 Cat. 5e and Cat. 6 modules (snap-in)

IP 67 Industrial Grade RJ45 Connectors, Cat.6

To meet the difficult demands of harsh industrial environments, Telegartner has developed an industrial grade RJ45 plug and outlet, both of which meet the Cat. 6 specification for use with twisted pair cabling. Both connectors fully satisfy the requirements for IP 67 classification. Telegartner's IP 67 R.J45 Industrial Cabling System is designed to meet future requirements for 8-way terminating and can support Gigabit-Ethernet with ample reserve. Areas of application for the Industrial Cabling System are in IP 20 cabinets and also connections to terminal equipment in harsh, highly polluted IP 67 industrial working environments. The modular inserts used in the outlet, as well as the plug inserts, are fully shielded which insure trouble free data transmission in areas with high EMI. The latching hooks on the connector housing, which can be easily opened without tooling, provide a secure IP 67 lock. The rotate-able clasp on the body of the connector offers additional protection against the accidental detachment of the IP 67 secure connection between the cable and the outlet.

"SimFIX PLUS" WATERTIGHT CONNECTORS

Telegartner introduces a new series of connectors for Corrugated Copper Cables which are completely watertight. Even in instances of the most severe cable damage, these connectors provide effective protection against water penetration of the cable dielectric and the cable inner conductor through the connector. This subsequently protects the Base Station itself. This water tightness is accomplished by a three-step design concept which goes far beyond conventional measures to insure tightness. Sealing is effective laterally and longitudinally and complies with IP 68 protection at a pressure of 2.5 bar minimum.

These connectors are available in both the 7/16 and N series. In addition, the "SimFIX PLUS" is designed for easy installation in the field under even the most difficult working conditions. Each connector consists of only two pieces, the Cable Clamp and the Mating Piece, which merely have to be screwed together.

These connectors meet the very high requirements demanded for the transmission characteristics in the area of Mobile Telecommunication Base Stations. These are low VSWR products (typical 1.02) with proven, low intermodulation measured at better than -170 dBc. Many types are available from stock.
